ShopLifting

'Breaking out is hard to do', Family Guy, 2005, Fox.

Is shoplifting any different to any other kind of theft? Some may say yes because the effects of shoplifting are allot less harsh compared to other kinds of theft such as house robbery. When an individual’s home is broken into, often they can feel like their home isn't theirs because a stranger has been through all their personal belongings. If they do not have house insurance the goods cannot be replaced, and on top of that there is always a worry of whether the criminal will come back to break in again. Shoplifting on the other hand does not affect an individual to this degree, as the company make large amounts of profit so it doesn’t make much difference to their business. Why do people who can afford to buy things shoplift them? Usually because they get some kind of adrenalin rush from the fact that they have shoplifted and not been caught.
